A technician is reported to have warned earlier that a prescribed wire be used in the house to avoid an electric fault, but the warning apparently went unheeded.  However, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be established. The proprietor of the store, John Zeegban, was attending a development meeting when the fire occurred. The store which is named “Courage Business Center” after the victim, was said to be jammed packed with all kinds of goods ranging from mattresses to cotton goods, utensils and numerous other merchandise. The child was said to have sustained first degree burns and was beyond recognition.  He died immediately and was laid to rest on the same day of the incident.Last October, a jilted man set his house ablaze in the same Karnplay region, leaving all the occupants to die as he fled to the Ivory Coast.  But he was later arrested and is in jail awaiting trial.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more

Lakers’ skid hits five

first_imgThere are still 28 games left in the regular season, but the Lakers are settling into the No.6 spot in the Western Conference standings. They went into Thursday’s game trailing fifth-place Houston by four games and leading seventh-place Denver by three games. That likely would bring a first-round playoff series against Utah or San Antonio, and the Lakers would not have home-court advantage. They were the No. 7 seed last season and exited in the first round but not until pushing Phoenix to a seventh game. Jackson conceded that the Lakers have not played well in about three weeks, but he said the primary concern was how they closed the regular season. The Lakers went 19-11 after the all-star break last season. Odom had his strongest game since coming back from the sprained knee ligament. He attacked on the first play of the second half and drilled a key 3-pointer with the Lakers down by six in the third quarter. The Lakers started the third quarter on a 14-5 run to take a 68-61 lead but lost momentum when Smush Parker compounded a foul on Eric Snow by slamming the ball in frustration and drawing a technical foul. LOS ANGELES – Maybe it’s not a surprise for the coach who reached 900 wins faster than anyone in NBA history, but Phil Jackson arrived at Staples Center for Thursday’s game against Cleveland having been a part of only two five-game losing streaks in all his years of coaching. The last thing Jackson wanted to do was spend the four-day all-star break thinking about ways to correct the bearings of a Lakers team that had lost its course. Neither did his players. Such was the back story to the second Kobe Bryant-LeBron James showdown of the season. The Lakers had to end their four-game losing streak in order to reach the unofficial halfway point of the season on any sort of a positive note. But Cleveland held on for a 114-108 victory that sent the Lakers into the all-star break with a 30-24 record, and having lost five in a row and six of eight. center_img 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong. Martial hits back amid reports of club fine

first_img“Thanks for all your posts,” wrote Martial. “My little Swan is fine but for the mother it is harder. Thanks to God she is better now. Sorry but my family will always come first, back tomorrow in Manchester.”Martial’s update comes after reports suggested that United are about to fine the 22-year old for missing a week of training during the crucial pre-season period, an episode that looks set to do more damage to his already strained relationship with manager Jose Mourinho.Mourinho told reporters in Miami on Tuesday that he had no idea when the striker would return to training, while club officials were unable to say why the player had not returned to the USA following the birth.Martial spent most of last season on the bench at United, and is reportedly keen to leave Old Trafford. And as if to highlight the breakdown in his relationship with Martial, Mourinho took a dig at the French forward with his comments in the wake of United’s 2-1 win over European champions Real Madrid in Miami.“My players [have been] amazing in their effort but we have more effort in front of us,” said Mourinho.“We go to Munich in a few days and we start the Premier League in nine days. These are the players that we have plus Lindelof, that started training two days ago, plus Marcus Rashford, Jones and Lukaku, because they gave to the group and to the team three days of their holidays.“So, they’re coming back three days early to try and be available for the team [against Leicester on August 10).“And with the fantastic spirit we have, in the majority of the players, I repeat: in the majority of the players, we have a fantastic spirit, we go with everything we have to the Premier League.”0Shares0000(Visited 1 times, 1 visits today) 0Shares0000The Frenchman tweeted on Wednesday that complications with the birth meant that he had remained in Paris to be with his wife.
