BJP leader quizzed for ‘aid’ to Maoist

first_imgA BJP leader from Bijapur district of south Chhattisgarh has been taken into custody by the Dantewada police for allegedly helping a Maoist leader with medical treatment.Though the Dantewada police are yet to make public any development related to the case, sources have told The Hindu that the leader is close to a Minister in the Raman Singh Cabinet. According to sources, the leader, a former sarpanch of Talnar village in Bijapur, was taken into custody along with two others, when he was returning in a car with a Maoist commander who had been taken to Telangana for medical treatment.Dantewada district Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap, however, denied any political links of the people taken into custody. “There is no political link to this case. We have called some people for questioning related to a case,” Mr. Kashyap told The Hindu.last_img
