Four fires start at noon in Limassol district

first_imgFirefighters had to deal with blazes on Sunday in four different locations in the Limassol district.According to the fires service spokesman, Andreas Kettis, fires broke out a few minutes before noon in three different locations – Kantou, Paramytha and Karmiotissa in Polemidia – and were put out after an hour. The fires destroyed wild vegetation. The fourth fire broke out at around 12.10pm in Erimi, also in the Limassol district, and was brought under control two hours later. It burned 2,5 hectares of carob trees and wild vegetation.Kettis said that the Erimi fire was caused after someone set fire to electricity cables, possibly with the aim of melting the plastic coating so they could sell the copper wire.“It is criminal to do such a thing under these weather conditions, in the hot breeze and high temperatures,” Kettis told the Cyprus Mail. The causes of the other three fires were being investigated, he said, but the human factor was possibly responsible.“No fire erupts by itself. In 94 per cent of the cases, the human factor is to blame,” he said. You May LikeClassmates.comLook For Any High School Yearbook, It’s FreeClassmates.comUndoFigLeaf Beta AppHow to Become Fully Anonymous Online in Less Than 3 Minutes?
